ABA Therapy in Bloomington, Minnesota

Bloomington runs eleven miles east to west, and our in-home ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) team covers all of it. Our Golden Valley center sits about twenty-five minutes north — I-494 to Highway 100 — and it's open to any Bloomington family who wants center-based care. One of the two will host your child's program; you choose.

Not every ABA provider in Minnesota accepts Medical Assistance. We do.

Ability Avenues accepts Straight MA and Blue Plus, and we're enrolled in EIDBI (Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention) — the Minnesota benefit that funds autism therapy for eligible children. Most families we serve pay $0 out of pocket.

Center-based or in-home in Bloomington?

For a city Bloomington's size, the drive question has two honest answers: from West Bloomington near Normandale, the center is a clean highway run; from East Bloomington by the Mall of America, add rush-hour 494 and decide with open eyes.

That's why in-home carries so much of our Bloomington work — therapy lands inside your day, and the program gives up nothing: same assessment, same hours, same BCBA supervision as the center.

Both settings stay open to every Bloomington address. You pick one; the program lives there; and if the pick stops working, we move it across whole. What we never do is run half a week in each.

One child, one setting: your child's program runs in the one you choose — and if it stops fitting, you and your BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) can switch, never split.

Getting to our center from Bloomington

From western Bloomington: I-494 west a short hop to Highway 100 north, then straight up past I-394 to the Duluth Street exit — about twenty-five minutes. From the east side, I-35W north to Crosstown 62 west and up 100 runs similar.

Midday and early-afternoon trips are dependable; 494 at 5pm is not. We'll schedule sessions with that reality in mind, not against it.

If you'd rather skip the drive

In-home slots across Bloomington book around District 271 school days and the shift schedules of airport- and hospital-employed parents. If your week is unusual, say so — unusual is normal for us.

Do you serve all of Bloomington?

All of Bloomington, yes — from the bluffs above the Minnesota River to the France Avenue corridor, East Side and West Side alike. No neighborhood in the city sits outside our in-home area.

And every one of those addresses can choose the center instead. Bloomington's size changes your drive time; it never changes your options.

Ability Avenues supports families whose children attend Bloomington Public Schools (District 271) and can coordinate with your child's IEP (Individualized Education Program) team.

Bloomington questions, answered

The things Bloomington families ask us most — coverage, the drive, and how starting actually works.

  • Do you cover both East and West Bloomington for in-home?

Both, completely — Normandale to the Mall of America side, and the river-bluff neighborhoods in between. Bloomington is large, so we route deliberately, but nowhere in the city is outside coverage.

  • Is the Golden Valley center practical from Bloomington?

It's about twenty-five minutes up Highway 100 from the west side, more from the east in traffic. Bloomington families do make it work — often around midday sessions — and if you can manage the trip, the center is fully open to you.

  • Can Bloomington kids do center and home sessions in the same week?

No — we run one program in one setting so the teaching compounds instead of fragmenting. You choose center or home at intake, and a later switch (complete, with your BCBA) is always available if circumstances change.

  • How does payment work for Bloomington families?

Most of our families pay $0: Minnesota's EIDBI (Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention) benefit covers eligible children in full, and we accept Straight MA and Blue Plus. If your child has commercial insurance as their primary plan, tell us on the call and we'll be honest about what that means.
